British Flower week

This coming week has been designated as one in which to celebrate British flowers!  Hoorah!  Dance a jig and check out the link while you are at it .....

These are the big boys of course !  BUT BUT BUT we smaller flower growers have been celebrating and promoting local production for some time now so they are lagging a bit behind there, come on chaps keep up .........

Locally produced flowers will be fresher and brighter and last just as long as anything you can buy in the supermarket, and wont have have travelled half way across the world to get to your table.  As with many things, we have become sooooooo used to buying what we want when we want it that we have perhaps forgotten the joy of the first snowdrop, or the first daffodil, or the first rose that smells so sweetly in the early morning dew.  This is a week to think again about what you buy and whom you buy it from.

I will have small, and not so small, table top vases at Balzano's cafe and delicatessan every day this week, why not come and have a look?  Their coffee and cakes are delicious so it is always worth a visit (see entry for 30th May).
